TeleCPT: Delivery of a Better Conversations Approach to Communication Partner Training During a Global Pandemic and Beyond

Purpose: This case report provides an overview of telehealth delivery our Better Conversations approach to communication partner training (CPT) for people with primary progressive aphasia (PPA) and their (CP). The purpose is advance the knowledge speech language therapists/pathologists (SLTs) on this type CPT empower them deliver teleCPT as part clinical practice. Method: We provide a describing therapy delivery, outcomes, self-reflections from practice, which represents collaboration between UK National Health Service clinic Research Lab at University College London, UK. A man PPA his CP (a dyad) video-recorded everyday conversations home using video conferencing platform. These formed basis evaluation conversation barriers facilitators, led four weekly 1-hr sessions covering mechanics conversation, identification goal setting, practice positive strategies. Results: Dyad self-rating attainment revealed that three strategies were achieved much more than expected, outcome given nature F.F.'s condition. SLT access dyad via facilitated carryover session in environment. TeleCPT was acceptable couple during global pandemic, benefits including no travel, ease scheduling around CP's work family commitments, specialist outside geographical area. Conclusions: feasible clients, improving way should not just be preserve service pandemic.
